PHOTOSHOOT, FILMING & LOCATION SCOUTING

Two camera setup for today's creative shoot. It was a long and intense

day and surprisingly warm.

May, June and July have definitely been a busy few months. Lots of script rehearsals and costume fittings, writing and producing a new soundtrack. Filming in new locations, an external film shoot in the city centre, and another internal shoot further up north in a beautiful village town. This film is really taking me all over. 

Composed a new soundtrack for the film,unfortunately it won't feature on the Extended Motion Picture Soundtrack.

Filming went really well, we started earlier than expected and despite a few raindrops we manged to get the whole scene filmed and finished well ahead of schedule.

(FRIDAY 28TH July 2023)

I've been so busy setting up my studio and making huge changes to it, it's transformed and customized to the way I like to work. The professional microphone recording section is the same but my audio device has been updated allowing me to work in Pro Logic Surround Sound which has made a huge difference to my editing and post production.

Currently setting up in prep for ADR 

My studio is still going through a huge transformation and needs a good tidy, but I am able to continue working in the mean time.

From one extreme to the next, this weekend I've been working on VFX. The upgrade to my computer system has been a godsend, I am now able to do the things I was unable do in the past making my workflow so much faster and easier.

Planning my shoot, it's an intricate scene and I'm deciding whether to use green screen.

I'll be working alongside actors Bridget and Hena.

(TUESDAY 1st August 2023) 

It's been an ongoing and intense, hectic past few days setting up and configuring my music software. Lots of tests and failures, but finally "Hey Presto!" I can actually get back into producing again, lots of new creative professional sounds to test out, compose and work with. 

(TUESDAY 29th August 2023)

August has been a busy month, especially prepping for my next scene this weekend with Henna and Bridget. I could have made this shoot so much easier but opted for the more difficult option. It's a lot more complicated and intricate as it involves a lot of green screen and computer graphics. "But you don't gain anything by not limiting your boundaries right?" 

"So what's been happening?"

Claire joined me in the studio this weekend to record her ADR (Audio Dialogue Replacement). It was a completely new experience for her, but after explaining and demonstrating what I wanted from her she soon got into the swing of things. Claire is very experienced and is also a quick learner and picks up new techniques very quickly.

We ended the session with a promotional shoot, she looks amazing!

Claire has completed all of her scenes for Jet Slade: Rise of the Black Hood and I look forward to working with her again in the near future.

Hena will be filming her final scene this weekend and I'm looking forward to the challenge.

My next ADR session in the studio is at the beginning of September with Hannah, it will be her first time in the studio so it will be an experience for her. 

I've also been working on my VFX editing, with video editing software updates I've thrown myself in the deep end having to learn new editing techniques, just as I have with my music software.

Being a Solo Filmmaker involves so many different tasks, it involves lots of late night test trials and errors and studying, especially if you want to perfect your craft.
